TO BRING BEST VALUE TO PATIENTS WITH PSORIASIS IS WHAT THE PSOGENT GROUP UNITES

Projects - Mango

Psoriasis is associated with many other diseases, such as metabolic syndrome and 'leaky gut' syndrome. Diet studies have shown that weight is an important factor in the severity of psoriasis; and weight loss is thus associated with an improvement in lesions. Modified intermittent fasting, or IMF, has already been associated with positive effects on metabolism and the gut – however, its effects on skin and psoriasis are yet to be discovered.

The MANGO study explores these effects by having people with psoriasis fast 2 days a week for 12 weeks. In the randomized controlled trial, participants are extensively questioned about their mood, their experience with psoriasis, the state of their bowels and bowel movements, their stress level. In addition, markers for inflammation and metabolism are measured in blood and skin. Finally, we also look at whether the gut microbes also behave differently during IMF. A visual overview of the trial can be found below.

The study is getting a lot of attention because intermittent fasting has become very popular in the meantime. You can find some news items about this via the following links:
